Adhesive Mortar Application Guide
Surface Preparation
Ensure the paving stones are clean and free of debris, dust, or grease. Then check that the surface is dry and has no water on it. If the surface is wet, make sure to allow it an appropriate time to dry.
Mix Adhesive Mortar
Choose a clean container and mix the adhesive mortar with clean water according to the instruction manual. For the entire 55 lb. bag, you will mix 2.1 gallons of water with the mortar compound. Ensure you stir the mixture until it forms a smooth lump free paste. Mix only the amount of adhesive mortar that can be used to avoid waste. If possible, use the entire contents of the bag at once. Depending on what you use the adhesive compound for, you can adjust the consistency by using more or less water than the instructions call for.
How To Apply Adhesive Mortar
Use a trowel to spread a thin layer of adhesive mortar onto the surface where the paving stone will be placed. The thickness of the adhesive mortar should be between ⅛ – ¼ inch thick. Next, hammer the paver into the freshly laid drainage mortar. Ensure that excess mortar does not squeeze out the underside, as it could affect the joints. The ideal temperature for application is 68 degrees Fahrenheit, but you can apply the adhesive mortar in temperatures from 41-77 degrees Fahrenheit. The storage life of this compound is 12 months if you keep it dry in a storage container.
