Whether you’re looking to draw attention to your steps for their beauty or to prevent people from missing a step in the dark, outdoor step lights are the way to go. Our step lights are designed to integrate seamlessly into your steps. This means they blend in during the day, preserving the aesthetic of your outdoor space, and only become noticeable at night when you need the extra light. Explore our step lights to start your step lighting project today.

Low-voltage lights lower the risk of electrical shock, making outdoor spaces safer. They also reduce glare for clearer, more comfortable visibility, which helps prevent trips and falls after dark. Plus, consistent, well-placed lighting can discourage intruders and enhance overall property security.

Built to last, our low-voltage step lights feature weather-resistant construction and long-life LEDs for minimal upkeep. The transformer-powered system prevents overpowering and burnout, extending bulb life. Reliable, efficient lighting with little maintenance—perfect for long-term step illumination.

Low-voltage step lighting is safer to install and doesn’t require conduit or deep trenching—making it faster and DIY-friendly. With a transformer, direct-burial low-voltage wire, and fixtures, just place the lights, run wire from light to light, use waterproof connectors, and connect to the transformer. Bury the wire only 3”–6”. For full instructions, see our step-by-step installation guide.

Reliable, knowledgeable, and friendly! Sauder's was one of the suppliers we used last year to build our paver patio & retaining wall. They were the ONLY supplier to suggest a border to break up the same color on the patio and wall, and we are SO happy we took their advice!
Sauders personnel goes out of they’re way to help the homeowner who choose to take on hardscaping projects. My wife and I built a free standing sitting wall with pillars around our patio and Sauder’s provided all the materials and expertise on how to build a wall.
No, it’s not a requirement to place a light on every step; it’s up to personal preference, safety considerations, and practicality. You may want a light on every step if they are far apart to ensure that every step is visible and not a potential falling hazard. However, if you already have outdoor lighting and want to enhance its aesthetic appeal, you could spread out the lights as you please.
Typically, step lights are placed 12 to 18 inches above the tread surface to ensure they illuminate the step without causing excessive glare or shadows. However, it’s up to you to choose the proper height to prevent glares, create the right lighting effect, and have the step lighting design you had in mind.
Installing lights in existing concrete steps requires additional planning and steps to get it right. You’ll need to mark drill holes where you want to place the lights and then drill holes into the concrete to install the anchors or mounting hardware and the lights.
To install step lighting, you’ll need to acquire all the necessary materials, splice your low-voltage wires, connect them to your lights, bury them, and put them along the wall where you want them. Check out our install guide for a more in-depth guide to installing low-voltage landscape lighting.
Look for outdoor‑rated, sealed fixtures with appropriate IP ratings for splash/rain exposure. Use waterproof connectors and keep splices out of standing water.

Engineered for ½″ mortar joints, our integrators fit brick, bluestone, stucco, capstones, travertine, and precast concrete—ideal for clean, flush paver-light installs.

A 500′ spool of 12/2 direct‑burial cable gives you room to lay clean home‑run lines and future‑proof add‑ons. The thicker conductors cut voltage drop on longer runs, keeping fixtures evenly bright.

Solid connections make or break a low‑voltage install. Use a proper splice with a waterproof connector—such as our Ideal Connectors or SureSplice—to keep moisture out and ensure your system runs reliably.
