Leaving up lights on all night is fine with low‑voltage LEDs. Pair them with a properly sized transformer, set a timer or photo control for dusk‑to‑dawn, and keep wattage modest to preserve ambiance and energy.
Narrow beams carve detail on columns or tall trees; wider beams wash broad walls or canopies. Match lumen output to subject size—lower for small shrubs, higher for tall trunks and elevations.
Set fixtures slightly off the base to graze surfaces upward. Stagger along walls, aim past the trunk into the canopy for trees, and mirror at entries for symmetry.
Warm white up lights enrich brick, stone, and evergreens; neutral white sharpens stucco, metal, and grasses. Keep one color temperature across the zone for cohesion.
One per focal element is common; large trees or long walls may need 2–3 with varied angles to avoid flat lighting.
