Up lighting makes architecture feel taller, prouder, and more intentional. Place fixtures at the base of columns and facades to cast shadows that graze upward, sculpting flutes, mortar joints, and stone relief without washing everything flat.

Soft, strategic up lighting trims away dark corners around the building, making movement visible without the harsh blast of floodlights. By lifting gentle beams along walls, entries, and vertical features, you create a calm perimeter glow that preserves night vision.

Gentle up lighting at the base of trees and shrubs reveals bark texture and lifts the canopy into a soft, layered silhouette. Aim narrow beams to graze trunks and let a feathered spill reach the branches, so leaves glow without blowing out highlights.

Reliable, knowledgeable, and friendly! Sauder's was one of the suppliers we used last year to build our paver patio & retaining wall. They were the ONLY supplier to suggest a border to break up the same color on the patio and wall, and we are SO happy we took their advice!
Sauders personnel goes out of they’re way to help the homeowner who choose to take on hardscaping projects. My wife and I built a free standing sitting wall with pillars around our patio and Sauder’s provided all the materials and expertise on how to build a wall.
Leaving up lights on all night is fine with low‑voltage LEDs. Pair them with a properly sized transformer, set a timer or photo control for dusk‑to‑dawn, and keep wattage modest to preserve ambiance and energy.
Narrow beams carve detail on columns or tall trees; wider beams wash broad walls or canopies. Match lumen output to subject size—lower for small shrubs, higher for tall trunks and elevations.
Set fixtures slightly off the base to graze surfaces upward. Stagger along walls, aim past the trunk into the canopy for trees, and mirror at entries for symmetry.
Warm white up lights enrich brick, stone, and evergreens; neutral white sharpens stucco, metal, and grasses. Keep one color temperature across the zone for cohesion.
One per focal element is common; large trees or long walls may need 2–3 with varied angles to avoid flat lighting.
